Product photography: inside the FROSISTA series

The FROSISTA series combines close product views with table settings. Here is a look at the team’s production work and the finished output: six photographs used in advertising, print, social media and on the website.

What should a product photograph communicate?

Packaging makes a brand recognisable; an open product reveals colour and texture. The FROSISTA series brings these roles together. Some frames concentrate on the caviar and its presentation, while others place the product within a wider composition. The FROSISTA album contains all six photographs.

A useful sequence lets someone recognise the product, inspect its details and understand how it might appear on a table. A packaging photograph and a serving scene therefore answer different questions, even when they belong to the same communication.

What work did the team carry out?

The work covered shoot preparation, composition, lighting, photography and retouching. The product was the subject throughout. Its position, scale within the frame and relationship with the surrounding objects shaped the image.

For a similar new project, we start with a list of required assets: product-page images, social content and compositions that need room for text. That list helps identify which arrangements need separate shots. A tightly composed photograph may leave little room for another crop.

How do lighting and surfaces affect the image?

The collection includes ice, silver, dark stone and a festive table setting. Cool, light surfaces bring attention to the product’s colour. Dark backgrounds change the contrast and isolate details. A serving scene adds context that a pack shot alone cannot provide.

Look at the reflections and the edges of objects across the series. Light needs to distinguish the caviar, tableware and packaging. In a comparable shoot, reflections are best checked on set, while the light or subject can still be repositioned.

What does post-production contribute?

Retouching completes the treatment of colour and detail. Product images benefit from being reviewed together as well as individually: do the colours agree, does one frame look unexpectedly bright, and does the product remain recognisable?

For a new brief, processing requirements and file delivery should be agreed in advance. A website image and a file intended for large print need different preparation. A reduced website image is not a replacement for a print file.

What was the finished output?

Six final photographs are published in the album. The series is used in advertising, print, social media and on the website. Different settings and compositions create variety across the collection.

This is a production result. Sales, reach and placement-performance data are not available for this article. You can assess the visual work in the complete collection and discuss a new brief through our photography and video production service.

What should you prepare for a similar shoot?

Share the product list, packaging images, intended channels and references for the style of photography. Identify essential details such as a readable name, visible texture or particular serving arrangement. Include required aspect ratios in the brief before production.

For work combining a product with a person, see the Faberlic production article. Our guide to planning several formats from one shoot explains the broader preparation process.

Frequently asked questions

How many photographs are in the FROSISTA series?

The published album contains six final photographs.

Where is the series used?

In advertising, print, social media and on the website. This article does not report placement-performance figures.

Can one photograph supply every format?

That depends on the composition. If a crop removes the product or leaves no space for copy, a separate shot is preferable.

Was retouching included?

Retouching formed part of this series’ post-production. The scope for a new project depends on its brief and source material.

How is a similar shoot priced?

After reviewing the products, compositions, intended uses and processing requirements. Six published photographs do not imply a fixed fee or shoot duration.
